Navigating The Murky Waters Of Compliant Cannabis In California [by Nick Boomer]
It’s been over 16 years I’ve been involved with the cannabis industry & have watched it grow into the regulated market it’s becoming. I have mixed feelings, similar to most in states like CA, where legacy cannabis growers have paved the road for the plant’s future. ⚗️ I say I have mixed feelings because I’ve always been an advocate for the plant, not myself. I was given a second chance at life to be here and serve others needing help. I’m not here for monetary reasons the same as most. I’m guided by science, my patients, and my intuition to better this world. I’d like to believe I self-manifested all of this and was determined to live a unique lifestyle free of limitations.
However, as the years have gone on, I’m watching the laws develop, and seeing the tax structures crush small family farmers. In CA some counties have unlimited canopy sizes whereas other restrict to half an acre essentially per license. Come 2023 in CA we will have unlimited canopy licenses available and big players well funded are already rolling in buying up agriculture land here. 🧐
I’ve done my best to lead by example but no, I’m not wealthy and funded like these suits coming in. I’m a third generation blue collar HVAC technician who was trained by his father to do commercial environmental controls. All while I attended college for business management and marketing. My skillset has allowed me to open doors where others may not have been able to and I feel blessed.
I do navigate these murky waters with eyes in the back of my head, always on a swivel. Trust is earned not given. And believe me when I say getting legal is no cake walk. Admittedly even myself, I’ve conceded to collaboration with other like minded groups since no one person can do this alone. My mission is to assist facilities transition from conventional farming to a more organic approach using no pesticides, chemicals, or harmful products. Allowing them to become lab certified and compliant in regulated cannabis markets. I am a patient first, and want to see clean cannabis everywhere!
